Immanence
Is the awareness of the divine within
I saw the word, Immanence, circled a few times with my orange pen followed by a big underline of
“Immanence is the awareness of the divine within”
But I have no recollection of doing that or even what that word meant at the time of reading it now.
I sometimes have a habit of writing dates in the margins of my books because I know this happens - it’s Aug 23, 2023 apparently and well…sometimes a teaching rests quietly until we’re able to receive it.
Especially when we learn something new through reading. Or lectures, webinars etc. These are wonderful ways to gain knowledge but without the application and then the reflection on how things are integrating into everyday life — what do we truly get out of it?
The feeling of Immanence turned into this meditation. While technically self-guided, meaning I wasn’t listening to an app, it felt like something else guided this experience.
Listen below if you don’t have Insight Timer
I recorded this after the fact, and that sense of time dissolving, between two worlds carried me through. As you weave up the spine in an “S” pattern imagine yourself clearing and cleansing each chakra.
As you arrive at the third eye, listen for the experience of widening that area. And as you experience that widening within, how do you descend back down?
Immanence.
Awareness weaves back down nurturing the Self within.
In yogic tradition, the “kundalini serpent” is a symbol for a spiritual energy believed to be coiled like a serpent at the base of the spine. Awakening this energy is a process of it rising up the spine, activating the body’s chakras which is believe to lead to heightened awareness and spiritual transformation. And while I know that logically, have studied that for years, it wasn’t until that moment that I felt that shape within.
Well enough explanation about it, don’t take my word for it — listen to it. And if nothing lands come back to it 2 years later. Time has a way of leaving us little crumbs, like a margin note from Aug 2023.
All in good time,
Brenda

“If I can perceive my sad, I am something other than sad. I am now the observer of sad. When you’re the observer of your brain, that puts you in the driver seat of a very cool machine. It makes your brain more like a steering wheel than the driver.”

“We scroll through spiritual Instagram posts about “connecting with nature” while we can’t identify five birds in our own backyard.” - If you take nothing else from today, I HIGHLY recommend you read this one. It’s rich. It’s full. I’m reading it over and over as it awakens something in me each time.
This interview with Jewel, yes 1998 Jewel, was full of so much wisdom.
Why the world needs your art: with Amie McNee - We talk a lot about that word “art” here on The Contentment Corner and Amie’s message will be a beautiful reminder how your life is art. We need your art in the world. But you are art. We are a work of art. Follow your life through the eyes of an artist and you’ll see - even when you lay on the couch after a long day - that’s art 💌
