Are we in the clear?
From the waterfall of Black Friday, Small Business Saturday, Confusing Sunday, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday, Endless Capitalism emails? 😅
As we progress through December, I know this time of year can be a mix of emotions.
From the joy we may feel in reuniting with family or the confusion it feels if you’re not really speaking to family (I’ve been on both sides of the spectrum at different points in my life).
To getting triggered by a seemingly random comment from your aunt.
And of course, receiving the endless propaganda starting in November that tells us we’ll never find the best deal without this 10% off 😒 When did 10% become a good deal?
This is the first year in a long time that I’m feeling pretty steady and it might be a testament to my practices but I know that any little moment can throw me off course.
And so I felt called to do a collective reading from The Yogic Path Deck.
It’s been one of my favorite tools to use in my practice these days.
I decided to go with three cards for us here:
One for “I” on a message you need to hear for yourself.
One for “We” on a message you need to hear when engaging 1:1 with someone.
One for “Us,” what we need to hear collectively.
Leave a comment or email me back if something resonates with you. I know when I pulled them I was like, oh sh*t yes!😯
The Power of Me: Durga, The Goddess of Inner Strength and Protection
Durga decided to show up upside down. Meaning that there may be a little more support we need to call in for ourselves. Is there a lingering feeling of anxiety, loss, or confusion in your mind? This may be residual from other years or currently happening now. The message is to call in strength. Whatever the emotion or trigger is, remember it’s temporary. The one thing you can change is your present thoughts. Remember that. And remember Durga, the goddess of inner strength and protection as you navigate this holiday season. Draw the qualities in when you’re finding yourself in a challenging time.
The Power of Me And You: Ahimsa aka Non-violence and Compassion
Amazing! Of course, this shows us for our 1:1 card. You have already become so aware of how your thoughts impact your conversations and/or the quality of relationships. Through intentionally becoming loving in your inner monologue, your one-to-one relationships experience that as well. Continue to fine-tune your inner language to radiate compassion, joy, and peace. Radiating these qualities does not mean vocalizing or forcing them, necessarily. Think of it like a strong gust of wind. Its presence is known but it’s gentle. Remember that even the most disciplined yogis still get frustrated with their partners, or family members, or speak unkindly to a stranger. These moments are your teacher, reminding you of an area that needs your care, love, and attention. Overcoming your triggers facilitates growth. Sing the song of ahimsa and compassion in those moments with someone else.
The Power of Us: Sita Ram, The Goddess of Devotion and Loyalty
Oh Sita Sita, Sita Ram. Love is what endures us all. Our devotion to love — self-love, partner love, family love, community love — even in the face of harsh wars, a plethora of sad news, our unmanageable phone addictions: Our loyalty to love is what keeps us together. Remember, we are not here to change anyone or anything. We are here to love unconditionally and extend that feeling to all from the depths of our hearts. The way we show love to humanity looks different in all of us. So take time to tune in, what is your unique way of showing love to humanity? Sita shows up when she wants to remind you of how much you truly care. The sacrifices you’ve made. Selfless devotion is one of the most holy things we can do for each other. In serving those you love, you serve the divine.

This month’s Yoga of Mind Mini-Course really aligns with all these themes around triggers, old patterns, becoming more aware of our inner dialogue, and transmuting that awareness into love and compassion.
I would recommend listening to the mini-lesson, it’s 9 minutes, then come back and re-read the cards. Then finish it with the guided meditation.
All the descriptions are below. And if you missed last month, you can always go back.
Sending you so much love and devotion,

I started reading Designing Your New Work Life: How to Thrive and Find Happiness and a New Freedom at Work. And after talking with my friend Chris about it, we thought it might be cool to start a mini-book club for it. Given that this style of book could use some discussion and accountability. Take a look at the work and life manifesto that I really liked.

For Mindful Marketing
Strategy: Last month I shared some of my goals in creating The Inner Wisdom Mastery Book.
I’ve had less time to devote to this, of course. Does that ever happen to you? But I’m more of a believer in putting things out there before it’s perfectly polished and finished though.
Results: So even with this amount of effort, simply putting a pop-up on my website, in one month I’ve increased my email list by 10 new subscribers. For me, that’s a good amount.
Why is this important: If you’re a business, solopreneur, content creator, etc and you’re trying to increase your email list — a pop-up is a great and simple way to get new subscribers. I have found that a pop-up is more effective than just a form on your website or asking people to subscribe on social media. Give it a try! 🍿
